Quest over!(?)

For now at least. Decided that it was time to just PICK a laptop and be done with it. I can do as much research as I want, but I won’t really know if I can be satisfied with either the Acer S7, or with Windows 8, until I get my hands on em. So, I pulled the trigger.

Despite missing a sale that would have saved me $100 (grumble), I decided to go with the higher-end version of the Acer Aspire S7, with an i7 CPU and 256, rather than 128, GB of SSD storage. The latter is really what swayed me; having a slightly better processor is certainly not a bad thing, but in this case, the difference isn’t hugely significant. But having over 100 GB of additional storage is. And the total cost after taxes between the two models is about $240, which isn’t going to break the bank when considering the fact that I was pretty much resigned to spending 1200-1300, at minimum, no matter what I went with.

So yus! It is on its way, and should be here Monday. I’m actually pretty excited!

My braincase rattles with ultrabooks

If you actually got that reference, then: how is 2.1? I’ve been sort of contemplating giving the game another go, but… I dunno. Anyway.

Ultrabooks! Those sleek, thin, light computers that essentially came into existence because of the MacBook Air, or rather, to create an Air-like experience with a Windows laptop. They’ve been around for long enough now that the concept has matured, as has the hardware going into the machines. And I’m seriously thinking about getting one. In fact, I may pull the trigger on one as early as later today. Continue reading

MLP:FIM season 4, episodes 3&4 – “Castle-Mane-ia” and “Daring Don’t” – thoughts and review

So, I fell behind on my episode round-ups after getting a nasty cold last week. It seems to be clearing up, thankfully, though the cough and stuffy nose will probably persist for a while, as they always do. Ugh. Then some other stuff got in the way…

Since another episode has already gone by, I’m going to post about both of the above episodes in one post here. As always, spoilers abound! Ye be warned! Arrrr.

First, Castle-Mane-ia, which was absolutely amazing. Mostly for simply beingĀ hilarious. Continue reading

An outrageous miscarriage of justice

The big delay in posting has been because I had a nasty cold that only just recently cleared up. I’ll get back to posting about ponies and fun stuff soon, I promise. But I feel the need to voice some thoughts on this, just for the sake of my own sanity.

A warning: don’t click on the link below, or even read the rest of this blog post, if you aren’t in a good frame of mind at the moment to handle something depressing, infuriating, and maddening.

So, this happened.

What the ever living FUCK.

I have trouble believing this is real. I read the article and then looked back up at the top of the page, hoping that I had somehow misread “The Onion” as “” But nope, it’s real. Continue reading
